27 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Prime Minister of Italy, the far-right Giorgia Meloni, praised the United Kingdom’s immigration policy this Thursday before her British counterpart, Rishi Sunak, in London while dozens of protesters protested against the visit of the Italian ‘premier’ at number 10 of Downing Street.
“The fight against traffickers and illegal immigration is something that our two governments are doing very well: I am following their work and I fully agree with it,” Meloni has sentenced, Rai News has collected.
However, several dozen protesters in favor of the rights of migrants have gathered around 10 Downing Street to express their rejection of the arrival of the Italian Prime Minister in the United Kingdom, with banners of ‘Out’ and ‘No to the fascist Meloni’.
During their meeting, the two discussed the “close ties” between the two countries, with an eye not only on the bilateral relationship, but on joint work through the G7 and G20, as well as Ukraine as a backdrop.
This comes after the scandal caused by the words of the Minister of Agriculture, Francesco Lollobrigida, who is a member of the Brothers of Italy, Meloni’s party, and who warned of a supposed “ethnic substitution” in the country.
