The publisher Raw Fury and the British team Bytten Studio have shown the launch trailer for Cassette Beasts, an RPG where monsters are collected and turn-based combat takes place in an open world. From today the title is available for PC via Steam for 19.99 euros and as part of the Game Pass catalog. On the other hand, the publisher and developer have announced that the version of Cassette Beasts for Xbox One, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch consoles already has a date and will go on sale on May 25.

Cassette Beasts develops its story in New Wirral, a secluded island inhabited by strange beings and a group of characters who, faced with the threat of these monsters attacking them, decided to use old tapes to record the creatures and reproduce them to adapt their combat form. The player will arrive on the island with the intention of leaving it and returning home, but to do so they must explore every corner of this world as they add monsters to their collection, win battles and forge friendships.

In Cassette Beasts the combats are strategic and the options are generous if we take into account that there are 120 monster shapes to collect. Additionally, the fusion system allows you to combine two monster forms to create unique entities. One of the keys to combat is the status effects that grant different bonuses or penalties. For example, the wall is a type of status effect that is used to absorb an amount of damage and also causes other elemental reactions. If Launch is used when the wall is active, that wall becomes an offensive projectile. The combinations are many.

It must also be taken into account that there are wild fusions, which are the result of the union of two monsters that must be separated first to defeat or record them, or pirate monsters, which are rare variants with a type and color different from the ones normal.

In the open world of New Wirral, players will travel with different human companions with whom they can bond, pass the time and help each other achieve personal goals. At relationship level 1 the option to merge during combat will open and at level 5 you can start a romantic relationship (which is totally optional and has no benefit in the game). There is also the option to use local multiplayer to explore and fight alongside a friend.

“We’re thrilled to launch Cassette Beasts, a journey we started together almost two years ago (and one we’ve started before!),” says the Bytten Studio team. “We couldn’t have made it this far without the incredible support and enthusiasm from each and every one of you. Your valuable feedback, the experiences you’ve shared, and the word you’ve shared about our game have been instrumental in making Cassette Beasts what it is today, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it.”
