An Iranian court orders the US to pay some 283 million euros for the 2017 attacks in Tehran

26 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

An Iranian court has sentenced this Wednesday the United States Government to pay about 313 million dollars (about 283 million euros) in damages to the families of the victims of the attacks perpetrated in 2017 in the capital, Tehran, which they left 17 dead and more than 40 wounded.

According to information collected by the Iranian news agency IRNA, the ruling also affects various government institutions and US officials, who must pay this amount for “material, spiritual and punitive damages.”

Thus, the court has held that the verdict also seeks to prevent future “violations of International Law by the United States, including its support for the terrorist group Islamic State when perpetrating terrorist attacks.”

Islamic State claimed responsibility for the aforementioned attacks, perpetrated in June 2017 against the Parliament of Iran and the mausoleum of Ayatollah Ruholá Khomeini, founder of the Islamic Republic after the success of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
