The leader of the Taliban, Hebatulá Ajunzadá, has guaranteed his followers that there will be no law in Afghanistan other than Islamic law and has warned that he will not tolerate external interference in the politics of the fundamentalist movement, the object of international criticism for its veto against the women and their persecution of minorities.
“We have promised before God that not a single blasphemous law will have a place in Afghanistan,” Akhunzadah made known from the great mosque in the province of Kandahar, the cradle of the Taliban, on the occasion of the end of Ramadan, in a speech delivered this week from which the Tolo News chain has released new extracts this Saturday.
The mullah placed particular emphasis on the fact that the Taliban regime will never make any commitment on Islam and has demanded that the population support the current system, reinstated after the Taliban recapture of the country that ended in August 2021.
“My government when it coincides with the sharia (Islamic law). If it goes against it, no one should obey it,” added the speech collected by the Afghan chain.
In previous excerpts published on Tuesday, Ajunzadá has already warned that he will not tolerate outside influence in Afghan politics. “Afghanistan does not want to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries and insists that other countries do not interfere in their internal affairs, which would be beneficial to the world and to Afghanistan,” he said.
The authorities established by the Taliban after seizing power in August 2021 have faced criticism for their restrictions on civil liberties, including the closure of educational centers and the exclusion of female students from them, amid a battery of discriminatory measures against women that remove them from their jobs and govern aspects of their daily life.
