The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) alerted the public on Thursday against possible “fake accounts” after losing its blue mark on Twitter, the platform’s verified badge.
USCIS stressed that it maintains the same username in both English and Spanish and sent a message to Internet users. “Protect yourself from fake accounts.”
After various adjustments in the operation of the social network, its owner, Elon Musk announced that the users of each verified account should pay $8.00 per month and about $1,000 for organizations.
The measure came into force this Thursday and sports and entertainment figures who refused to pay the subscription they stopped seeing the badge in blue in their respective accounts.
