UAI Energy Transition Center will hold free talks on electrical microgrids and geothermal energy


Both meetings will take place in a hybrid format. Registrations are open.

Andrea Riquelme, Journalist.- The Faculty of Engineering and Sciences of the Adolfo Ibáñez University, through its Energy Transition Center (CENTRA) will dictate the Monday, April 24, at 3:00 p.m., together with the Energy Center of the University of Chile, a discussion on the potential of electrical microgrids and distributed energy resources to support the energy transition in Chile. The experts will discuss the benefits and challenges of these technologies in creating a more sustainable and efficient energy system in the country, as well as possible solutions and strategies to overcome technical and regulatory obstacles.

The meeting will have as panelists: Claudio Cañizares, Professor at the University of Waterloo, Canada; Dasla Pando, Researcher UChile Energy Center, CEO ENERDIS; Andrés Vicent, Electric Companies AG; Darío Morales, Executive Director ACESOL AG; and Rodrigo Miranda, SAESA Group Regulation Manager. For his part, he Tuesday, April 25, at 9:30 a.m.CENTRA will hold a second free discussion to address recent advances in geothermal, as well as the challenges and opportunities for the future.

The activity is organized jointly with the International Council of Large Electric Networks (CIGRE) of Chile and Mexico. The current state of geothermal energy in Chile will be discussed, ranging from recent advances to challenges and opportunities for the future. The potential of geothermal energy as a source of renewable energy in the country will also be addressed and the policies and measures necessary to promote its sustainable development will be explored.

The meeting will have as panelists: Gerardo Hiriart from CIGRE Mexico and General Director of GEOKERI; Carlos Jorquera, President of the Geothermal Council of Chile; and Rubén Muñoz, Head of the District Energy and Geothermal Unit of the Chilean Ministry of Energy.
