This Friday in Berlin the presentation of the new 100% electric CUPRA car took place. We are talking about Tavascanan SUV with a sporty spirit whose prototype was unveiled more than four years ago and allowed us to discover more closely the ambitious idea of the brand.
Today we have finally witnessed the most important deployment of the entire project: its commercial foray. The Spanish manufacturer, belonging to the Volkswagen Group, has revealed the design and characteristics of the production car, which will hit the market with certain changes compared to the conceptual one.

Based on the Volkswagen MEB platform, but with Barcelona design
It’s no secret that manufacturers take a lot of risks when designing prototype cars. Certain ideas that, due to safety regulations, mass production restrictions or budget limits, could not be possible, may appear in the concepts.
In the case of the Tavascan, according to the information we have and without going into too much detail, this interesting SEAT proposal maintains its expression and character, although, as we say, it presents some changes that distinguish it from the prototype presented in Frankfurt in 2019.
We are in front of a 100% electric sports utility vehicle. Not the first presented by the brand, because that title belongs to the Cupra Born, but the first in the SUV classification. That is to say, it is a proposal with an aerodynamic design and zero emissions.
At the propulsion level, the car moves thanks to two motors housed in each axis that provide combined power to the entire traction system. The lithium-ion batteries are housed in the ground, have a capacity of 77 kWh and promise a range of more than 500 km.
The Tavascan will have two versions. The Endurance will arrive with rear-wheel drive, maximum power of 210 kW and 547 kilometers of autonomy. The VZ, the most ambitious, will have four-wheel drive, a maximum power of 250 kW, but less autonomy: a maximum of 517 kilometers.
Both versions will equip 21-inch alloy wheels (the prototype was 22-inch) designed to minimize resistance and allow better sliding, in addition to different driving modes, parking assistance and LED matrix headlights.
Inside we find a modern, sporty design, but somewhat away from the futuristic look of the car presented four years ago. The seats will be made of Dark Night microfiber and in the console we will find a 15-inch screen and a 12-speaker audio system.
If we focus on the exterior design, CUPRA proposes a car with an elegant, visually aerodynamic exterior with interesting details. The logos of the brand (rear and front) are subtly illuminated. The front, with its triangular headlights, does not go unnoticed either.
The CUPRA Tavascan is based on the MEB platform of the Volkswagen Group. Its design and development has origin in Barcelonabut it will reach the entire continent and other markets in 2024. The Spanish manufacturer is optimistic and estimates that they will deliver more than 70,000 cars of this model per year.
