A tornado has hit the Turkish region of Kahramanmaras, the epicenter of the strong earthquakes that in February claimed the lives of more than 50,000 people, leaving at least one dead and 44 injured in the area.
As reported by the Turkish outlet TRT, a storm in this area of the south of the country resulted in a small tornado on Thursday, which has affected homes in the area and a large number of tents and other temporary homes, placed as a result of the earthquake and where many people still live.
For his part, the governor of the city of Kirikkale, the main affected by the meteorological phenomenon, has counted at least 177 temporary homes affected, and has confirmed that six of the injured are in critical condition and two others are very serious.
It has also confirmed that the storm began at 4:00 p.m. (local time) and that emergency devices have been working in the area since then.
Kahramanmaras was the epicenter of the massive earthquake that struck southern Turkey and northern Syria in February 2022, killing more than 50,000 people.
