After the Supreme Court of Justice of Mexico determined that it is unconstitutional for the National Guard to operate under the command of the Secretary of Defense (Sedena), President Andrés Manuel López Obrador insisted that it is necessary for the National Guard to be administered by the Army and said that he will present a constitutional reform in that sense in September 2024.
