(CNN) — Violent clashes and clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) continue in the Muwaileh area, west of Omdurman, according to eyewitnesses speaking to CNN from Sudan.
Witnesses claim that RSF military reinforcements were on their way to Khartoum when army forces confronted them with warplanes and ground forces, where fighting continues.
Eyewitnesses report that the central area of Khartoum, where the army command building and the presidential palace are located, was calm until Thursday, when fighting broke out for the first time in that area. The Bahri area, north of Khartoum, is quiet this Thursday morning after clashes on Wednesday night, in which the army pushed back RSF forces based in some of the residential neighbourhoods.
Eyewitnesses have told CNN that on Thursday morning the number of people at bus stops increased, trying to leave Khartoum and escape the fighting.
The water and electricity crisis continues in Khartoum, with food shortages in stores.
There is demand and shortage of fuel due to the cessation of services at service stations since last Saturday.
Pharmacies are closed, according to eyewitnesses.
