The commander of the Iranian Air Force, Hamid Yahedi, stressed on Wednesday that Tehran “will give a crushing response” to the “enemies” if they make “a mistake” against the country, after Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi threatened with destroying the Israeli cities Tel Aviv and Haifa if Israel took “the slightest action.”
“If the enemies make mistakes in their calculations against Iran, we will give them a harsh and crushing response with all our strength,” Yahedi said during a meeting with pilots and Air Force personnel, Iran’s Mehr news agency reported.
Yahedi’s words come a day after Raisi said that “if the Zionists take even the slightest action against Tehran, they will face a harsh response and the destruction of Haifa and Tel Aviv,” before adding that US forces they had to “leave the region as soon as possible”.
Raisi himself advocated last week for the creation of “a united front of Islamic countries” against Israel, amid the rise in tensions and after the latest incidents on the Esplanade of the Mosques, known to Jews as the Temple Mount, as a result of the irruption of dozens of agents inside the Al Aqsa mosque. After the events, projectiles were fired at Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip and southern Lebanon.
