The Sudanese Medical Committee has confirmed that the fighting between the Sudanese Army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Khartoum have left “a large number of martyrs and wounded” impossible to specify for the moment given the chaos and violence reigning.
“We confirm that there are a large number of martyrs and there are a large number of injured people who are still trapped due to the clashes,” the Committee, a regular source for international organizations during past episodes of violence in the African country, has made known on its page From Facebook.
“We call on all forces to stop the clashes immediately and open a safe path for the wounded to receive medical attention,” he added.
The body has only been able to specify so far at least three civilians killed and nine wounded during the first hours of the hostilities.
“We call on all humanitarian organizations working in Sudan and the International Committee for the Red Cross and Red Crescent to intervene in the medical evacuation and ambulance of the injured,” the organization requested.
