The Lithuanian authorities have sent this Friday a protest note to the Government of Belarus for “violating its state border” after a member of the Belarusian Border Guard entered Lithuanian territory.
The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry has indicated in a statement that the case dates back to last week, when the guard entered the territory for several seconds at the height of the city of Svencionis, which is about 80 kilometers from the capital. , Vilnius.
Thus, he has qualified that a diplomat from the Belarusian Embassy in the country has been summoned, for which reason the note in question has been delivered to him. In this sense, the authorities have denounced the “recurrent violations of the Lithuanian state border”.
In addition, it has indicated that Belarus has been required to “give explanations about what happened and take the corresponding measures to prevent this from happening in the future.”
