13 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
At least six people were killed Wednesday in a shooting near the South African capital Cape Town in an alleged gang-related crime.
The South African Police have reported that a vehicle has stopped in front of a house, where a group of armed people have entered and started shooting.
Five of the people, men between the ages of 20 and 50, have died at the scene. Meanwhile, a sixth person, who has been transferred to a hospital, has succumbed to gunshot wounds at the health center.
According to the IOL news portal, detectives from the province’s Anti-Gang Unit are investigating the facts and suspect that the motive for the shooting is related to gangs.
Local authorities have said the gunmen, who have not yet been arrested, were from outside the community. “The community has noticed unknown faces in the area in recent days and they were hiding. They are gang members who are not from here,” Mansoer Ismail, president of the Community Vigilance Forum of the affected town, told the News24 portal.
