12 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, has assured this Wednesday from the Netherlands that, after the decision that the Constitutional Council will take on Friday on the pension reform, he will propose an “exchange” with social actors to get out of the political crisis.
Macron has affirmed in a press conference together with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, that the country “must continue to move forward” despite the fact that debates, such as climate change or the aging of the population, “are still alive” , has picked up BFMTV.
The French president’s words come after two protesters were detained by security forces at the entrance to the University of Amsterdam, where Macron was visiting along with King Willem-Alexander, after shouting “we are here” several times.
Precisely as a result of the various interruptions that he has suffered in different events as part of his official trip to the Netherlands, Macron has indicated that we must learn to “accept controversy” while trying to “build a path for the future”.
Political and social tensions in France have crept into the state visit that Macron is making these days to the Netherlands. France has been experiencing virtually constant protests since January over the pension reform, which raises, among other measures, raising the retirement age from 62 to 64 years.
