MSI warns of a cyberattack on its servers



MSI has warned all its customers that the company has suffered a cyberattack in which its infrastructure has been affectedso while it is not clear what the extent of the attack is –beyond that it has been in their “information systems”—, Yes, it is known that the company has detected anomalies in its network and has activated its defense protocols.

Among the protocols that the company is following, we find the fact that MSI has already informed the relevant authorities as well as its cybersecurity unitsso we should soon know the extent of the damage if any, which generally result in access to sensitive data.

As we mentioned before, the scope of the attack is unknown, but MSI has taken the opportunity to indicate that we do not download BIOS updates or drivers from any other page than the official oneso we can imagine that part of the problems could come from the theft of software from the company’s servers.

Finally, MSI explains that the company has been restoring the state of its servers to normal, so the attack has had a negligible effect on their operations.
