Loreto Rojas, Journalist.- Next year, the Faculty of Forest Sciences and Natural Resources, one of the founders of the Universidad Austral de Chile, will celebrate its 70th anniversary and the commemorative activities of this special anniversary will begin to develop from this first semester.
From April the cycle of talks “70 years of training, development and research in forestry sciences and natural resources” will be held, which will bring together prominent exhibitors in the forestry field.
The talks, which will be open to the community, will be held on Thursdays at 3:00 p.m. in the Federico Saelzer Room of the Faculty of Forest Sciences and Natural Resources.

Thursday April 13: “Solid biofuels law, towards a modern market for firewood and other derivatives”. Speaker: Claudia Lopetegui, SEREMI of Energy of Los Ríos.
Thursday April 27: “Forestry Experimental Center. Academy, production and community”. Speaker: Daniela Rodríguez, Executive Director of the Forestry Experimental Center.
Thursday May 11: «New times, new fires, a look towards the future». Speaker: Marcelo del Valle, regional head of the Forest Fire Protection Department, CONAF.
Thursday May 25: “The contribution of the Native Forest Research Fund to the knowledge of native vegetation ecosystems”. Speaker: Verónica Oyarzún, forestry engineer, Native Forest Department, National Forestry Corporation.
Thursday June 8: “Assisted migration of Araucaria araucana. A new paradigm for genetic conservation under the pressure of climate change”. Speaker: Roberto Ipinza, INFOR researcher.
