Microsoft makes new Xbox controllers with salvaged car headlights and CDs

Microsoft has announced that the new Xbox wireless controller, Remix Special Edition, is made with recycled materials -such as car headlights and CDs-, which it has recovered to give each controller its own appearance and maintain its commitment to sustainability.

The company, which is preparing to celebrate Earth Day on April 22, has manufactured a device with crushed and recovered materials to which it has added brown and green colors.

To do this, it has carried out the so-called ‘Regrind’, a process that mechanically recycles Leftover Xbox One Controller Parts with a raw material that allows the creation of new controllers “maintaining durability and performance”, as he explained it’s a statement.

These recycled resins come from recycled materials such as car headlight covers, plastic jugs and CDs, materials with which the company has begun to explore new ways to reduce waste.

This controller, which can be configured through the Xbox Accessories app to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Windows 10/11, can already be reserved through the Microsoft Store for 84.99 euros and will be available from April 18. This includes the Rechargeable Battery Packwhich allows you to play without using disposable batteries.

This is not the company’s first commitment to sustainability, since last January it released a ‘software’ update with which the Xbox Series X and S consoles will automatically change their settings to the energy saving option while not in use.
