BRUSSELS, 5 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The European Commission has disbursed this Wednesday 50 million euros in macro-financial aid to Moldova within the framework of the European package of 150 million to assist neighboring countries affected by the Russian war.
Specifically, Chisinau will receive 10 million in direct aid and will access another 40 million in credits on favorable terms from the beginning of May. This aid constitutes direct support for one of the countries most affected by the consequences of the Russian aggression against Ukraine.
This support seeks to help Moldova meet urgent financing needs and support the country’s macroeconomic stability, says the European Commission, with the aim of enabling the candidate country to undertake ambitious and far-reaching reforms.
Brussels has already disbursed a consignment of 50 million to Moldova in a first tranche in August 2022 and in January of this year it proposed to increase the current macro-financial aid to Moldova up to 145 million euros, a measure that must now be approved by the Twenty-seven and the European Parliament.
