Renewal of the commercial register grew by 2.5% in 2022

According to the most recent report from Confecámaras, more than 2,161,000 renewals were registered at the end of the season for updating records in the Colombian Chambers of Commerce, which translates into an increase of 2.5% compared to 2021.

This is how of the total number of companies that carried out the renewal as of March 31, 69% correspond to natural persons and 31% to legal persons.

However, when analyzing the figures by sector, the report highlighted that the largest number of renewals were: wholesale and retail trade (928,629); lodging and food services (257,642); manufacturing industry (206,929) and professional, scientific and technical activities (130,471), among others.

Julián Domínguez Rivera, president of Confecámaras, pointed out that these results of updating the records demonstrate the commitment of businessmen in the country.

A figure like the one reached in this season of renewal of the Mercantile Registry denotes the commitment of the Colombian business community with formality, the economic and social development of the country; and allows companies of all sizes to access a wide portfolio of services and free programs from the Chambers of Commerce to increase their sales, improve productivity and learn about the market, generating a positive impact on society.Dominguez stressed.

When reviewing the figures by size, the report highlighted that of the total renewals, 93.2% are micro, 4.8% are small, 1.4% medium and 0.6% large, “This demonstrates the strength that micro and small businesses have in the business composition and their contribution.”

It should be noted that the Mercantile Registry accredits the quality of a merchant, generates security and trust with employees, customers, suppliers and the community in general. In addition, it allows businessmen to access the free services offered by Chambers of Commerce throughout the national territory.
