3 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The founder and owner of the Wagner Group, Yevgeni Prigozhin, announced on Sunday night that Russian troops already control the center of the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut, in the east of the country.
Prigozhin explained, through the Telegram account of his press service, that the Russian soldiers took the center of the city at 11:00 p.m.
“We raised the Russian flag with the inscription ‘Good memory for Vladlen Tatarski’ – military journalist who died this Sunday after an explosion in Saint Petersburg – and the flag of the Wagner Group in the Bakhmut city administration,” he said.
Thus, he has declared that they have “legally taken Bakhmut” and that “the enemy – the Ukrainian troops – are concentrated in the western regions”.
For several weeks now, the most complicated front in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine has been the one located in Bakhmut, as it was the scene of intense confrontations. Prigozhin asserted a few days ago that the fighting around this city “has practically destroyed” the Ukrainian Army.
