2 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

A microfinancing initiative launched in the Czech Republic to raise funds to buy weapons for Ukraine has raised more than 18 million euros and has already purchased a tank, rocket launchers and drones for shipment to the front. The next objective of the organizers is to buy a helicopter.

The initiative www.weaponstoukraine.com was launched on a private crowdfunding platform under the sarcastic name “A Gift for Putin”, a reference to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Among the acquisitions, thermal underwear, medicine bags, ammunition, drones and heavy weapons such as an updated Soviet T-72 tank and a rocket launcher stand out. The next target is a combat helicopter.

Among the organizers and main donors is the Czech businessman Dalibor Dedek and they have agreements with official bodies, including the Czech Ministry of Defense or the Ukrainian Embassy in Prague, which gives the operation the necessary guarantees of seriousness.

So far, more than 120,000 people have donated, a significant number considering that some 10 million inhabitants live in the country, although there are also donations from abroad.
