DRC reshapes its police leadership with the appointment of Juvénal Murhabazi as the new chief inspector

2 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

Juvénal Bideko Murhabazi has been appointed as the new chief inspector of the Congolese National Police in the framework of a remodeling of the police leadership.

This series of changes also contemplates the appointment of Jean-Bosco Galenga as the new police chief of the capital, Kinshasa, according to the decree approved this Sunday by the Congolese president, Felix Tshisekedi, and reported by the country’s media.

The former chief inspector of the Police, Raüs Chalwe Munkutu Ngwashi, will become deputy governor of the troubled province of Ituri, in the northeast of the country, the base of operations for the fearsome Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) militias.

These new designations take place in the midst of a serious security situation, especially in the north of the country, plagued by armed groups such as the ADF, the March 23 Movement in the North Kivu province, or the Mai Mai militias.

The latter, in fact, are behind an attack in the Lubero territory that has cost the life of a soldier deployed precisely in North Kivu.
