Tens of thousands of Israelis take to the streets again despite the paralysis of judicial reform

1 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

Tens of thousands of demonstrators have come out again to protest in the main Israeli cities to express their rejection of the judicial reform project promoted by the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, despite the fact that he announced last Monday his stoppage to open negotiations .

It is the 13th consecutive week of protests against judicial reform, with a special impact in cities such as Tel Aviv or Haifa, according to the newspaper ‘The Times of Israel’. The calls have been made for 150 towns and cities throughout the country.

Netanyahu announced last Monday the paralysis of the parliamentary process of the reform, but the demonstrators have maintained the protests because they fear an express process that could lead to the approval of the norm in 24 hours.

The reform has already been approved in the first reading in the Knesset or Israeli Parliament despite the opposition of the protesters. They denounce that the Government would assume absolute control over the Judiciary, which would also be tied hand and foot to question the laws approved in the Knesset.
