Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2023 has been cancelled. The event, which was intended to become the first face-to-face meeting since 2019, was to take place between June 13 and 16 in Las Vegas, United States. Its realization, however, had been questioned among the community after the absence of industry giants such as Microsoft, Nintendo and Ubisoft was confirmed.
This Thursday, when the rumors of a possible cancellation had begun to sound strongly, The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) announced through his Twitter account that this year’s event will finally not take place. As the organizing entity indicates in the message, there will be no online or face-to-face activities, that is, the expected E3 2023 has been completely cancelled.

This is what the organization says
In an email sent to members of the organisation, ESA has said that E3 “continues to be a beloved event and brand”, but this year’s edition “just didn’t get the sustained interest required to execute it in a way that would showcase the size, strength and impact of our industry.” As we can see, the rumors this time around have materialized into bitter reality.
The truth is that the event, which has been held since 1995, has begun to lose strength. In 2020, the ESA suspended it due to the pandemic. The 2021 meeting, for health reasons, was held online. E3 2022 was announced and canceled before its schedule was released. When everything seemed that the hybrid model (face-to-face and online) was ready to debut, we came across this news.
One of the questions that remains on the table with this drastic decision is what path ESA will take to recapture the splendor of E3, where his proposal is not the only one in the industry. Like last year, The Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley will celebrate the Summer Game Fest in June; Bethesda will have its own event the same month, and Ubisoft will not be far behind with its Forward Live.
