BERLIN, March 30 (DPA/EP) –

King Charles III of the United Kingdom applauded this Thursday the “brave” help offered by Germany to Ukraine in the context of the Russian invasion during his speech before the Bundestag, the German Parliament.

Thus, on his second day of visit to Germany, the British monarch has expressed that the decision to “provide this large-scale military aid is extremely courageous, important and welcome”.

“Germany and the United Kingdom have assumed an important leadership role,” said Charles III, who is in the German capital accompanied by his wife, Queen Camila.

The King pointed out that, as one of the largest donors in Europe, both countries have responded decisively and have known how to “take measures that otherwise would have been unthinkable in the past.”

On the other hand, he has addressed the good relationship between the two countries over the years, while the president of the Chamber, Barbel Bas, has stressed that the United Kingdom and Germany “are and will continue to be close allies and trusted partners” , even after the country has left the European Union.

Thus, he thanked the United Kingdom for its “indispensable and great contribution” to the liberation of Europe from National Socialism and its friendship with Germany after the Second World War.

For Carlos III this is the first trip abroad since he assumed the crown after the death of his mother, Elizabeth II of England. On his third and last day of visit he plans to move to Hamburg.
