Arrested the alleged person responsible for the escape of four terrorists in a riot in Mauritania

March 27 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Mauritanian Police have announced the arrest of the person allegedly responsible for the escape at the beginning of March of four terrorists in a riot in a prison located in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott.

“One of the investigation teams of the General Administration of National Security carried out a raid on a house located in Riyadh province (…) after extensive tracking operations, and was able to arrest the security man, named Mohamed T, known as Abu Osama,” read a statement.

The authorities have indicated that the investigation into the circumstances of the incident and the participants in it continues, after noting that Osama is responsible for the escape of four prisoners convicted of terrorism cases from the Nouakchott central prison.

The Ministry of the Interior reported in early March that two members of the country’s National Guard had died as part of the riot, in which there was an exchange of fire in which two other agents were also injured.
