March 26 (EUROPA PRESS) –
At least thirteen people have been killed, including the local leader, in the territory of Kisia, in the Congolese province of Kwilu, after an attack carried out last Friday by armed assailants from Kwamouth, in the province of Mai Ndombé.
In addition, there are several injured admitted to the hospital, the majority in intensive care, according to what the newspaper ‘Actualite’ has published.
These territories have been the scene of the conflict between the Teke and Yaka communities that has spilled over from the neighboring province of Mai Ndombé, in the southwest of the country.
Both communities have been fighting for years over the control of the population of Kwamouth (Mai Ndombé) and its surroundings, and insecurity has returned after three months of calm since the last incident on December 5, 2022, in which at least 13 people were killed by gunmen in the village of Kingala Matele.
