Iran, Syria condemn US attack on pro-Iranian militias

March 26 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Iran and Syria have condemned the US attack on pro-Iranian militias that killed at least 19, including three Syrian soldiers, in response to the alleged death of a US contractor in an Iranian attack.

“Any pretext to attack the bases created at the request of the Syrian government to deal with terrorism and Islamic State agents in this country will immediately be met with a reciprocal response,” said Keivan, spokesman for Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. Josravi, as published by the IRNA agency.

Following the attack, pro-Iranian militias fired seven missiles at a US military base in north-eastern Syria, though no fatalities or significant damage were reported.

For its part, the Syrian Foreign Ministry has condemned the “fierce attack”, while accusing the United States of continuing to “steal Syrian oil” and has stated that they will end “the US occupation”, as reported by the HEALTHY agency.

After the attacks, Biden wanted to lower the tension and stressed that the United States “does not seek a conflict with Iran, but is prepared to act decisively to protect its people.” For its part, the United Nations insisted on the need to reduce tension in Syria and called on foreign agents in its territory to “exercise restraint.”
