As with any good remake, Capcom was preparing changes to resident evil 4 (2023), not only at the gameplay level, but also in history. This was mostly for the best, but there is content that has been cut or changed so much that there are fans who are not happy about it and consider it political correctness.

A clear example of unwanted modification is the phrase with which Leon rejects a “fat opportunity” that an enemy gives him to deliver Ashley: “No thanks, bro (no, thanks, bro)”, following the line of brotherhood with which this character addressed the protagonists. In the remake, only the “fat opportunity” was kept, but Capcom passed up the other one of keeping Leon’s phrase.

What happened to Ashley, her skirt, and the perverted Leon from the resident evil 4 original?
However, the changes that attracted the most attention are related to Ashley, daughter of the president that Leon must protect in the adventure. In the original game, the young woman wore a skirt, but in the remake she is a skort, which is a kind of short short, which also has sections of fabric that also pretend to be a skirt.
This change is minor, but it eliminates some somewhat controversial moments, but they helped to give it that somewhat irreverent identity of the original, which honestly would hardly be well seen in these times.
The first instance is when Leon and Ashley meet Luis in a cabin, in which the latter mentions that the young woman has “ballistics”, referring to her breasts; in fact, in the modern editions there is an achievement, “Secure the Ballistics”, which is unlocked by rescuing Ashley for the first time. In the remake, this phrase was omitted and Luis made her angry by not calling her by her name, but by using “miss”.
Leon is no longer perverted in Resident Evil 4 Remake
The change that gave the most talk is that thanks to the change in the outfit, Leon can no longer look under Ashley’s skirt (neither on slopes nor with the reticle of the weapons), who recriminated him by yelling that he was a ” pervert”.
This change should not be blamed on the remake, since from the virtual reality version of resident evil 4, Capcom had applied some censorship.
This element was funny because it created unlikely situations, since the detection that made Ashley claim was related to Leon’s eyes, therefore this could be executed when he was in the middle of a fight and grappled an enemy.

Yes, these are jokes related to the appearance of a young woman, but it is still modified material and even censorship of the original game that some consider political correctness.
But after all these changes it’s ironic that Capcom added breast physics to Ashley in Resident Evil 4 Remake, for some reason. Also, while not using the word “overtime” Ashley also makes the sexual invitation to Leon at the end of the remake.
On the other hand, it is appreciated that in the remake some references from the original game were preserved, such as Leon’s iconic phrase and the bingo in the opening scene.
