Lula da Silva, president of Brazil, delays trip to China due to pneumonia

() — Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will postpone his planned trip to China for one day due to pneumonia, he said in an official tweet on Friday.

The Brazilian leader was found to have pneumonia after being examined at the Syrian Lebanese hospital on Thursday night, and has a “mild case” of pneumonia, according to his tweet.

The trip was initially scheduled for this Saturday, according to Lula’s official schedule. After China, Lula is also planning to travel to the United Arab Emirates for a state visit.

Lula also canceled a meeting he had scheduled with his ministers this Friday morning and will remain in the Alvorada palace (official residence of the Brazilian president), according to Brazil.
