At least ten fishermen dead after a trawler sank off the coast of Western Sahara

At least ten fishermen have died this Tuesday and five have been rescued after a trawler sank off the coast of Western Sahara, authorities in the Dakhla-Río de Oro region have reported.

The rescue teams of the Royal Navy and the services of the Moroccan Royal Gendarmerie, after receiving the notice, have mobilized in the area where the fishing boat has sunk, with a crew of 17 people. At the moment, two sailors are still missing.

The local authorities have reported that they have deployed the necessary logistics, including a plane from the Moroccan Gendarmerie, to carry out the rescue operations, according to the MAP news agency.
