The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, highlighted this Tuesday during the visit of the Japanese Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida, that both countries have established “the most significant relations” in the last three decades in the last year and has invited Japanese institutions to help rebuild after the war.
Both have ratified a joint declaration on a kind of special global alliance, with which to defend and try to advance those values they share, as well as the aspirations “that have not yet come true”.
“We have achieved the most significant relationships in more than 30 years, but this is only the basis of what we can achieve in the future,” Zelensky emphasized before the joint press conference with Kishida, who arrived in Kiev by surprise on Tuesday. .
Zelensky has welcomed the Japanese prime minister, who until now had been the only G7 leader not to attend his invitation. “Fumio Kishida is a strong defender of the international order and a long-time friend of Ukraine,” he said. The visit, he stressed, comes at a time when it is “important” to protect the principles of the United Nations Charter and international security.
On the other hand, Zelensky has offered Japan to participate in the post-war reconstruction work of the country, especially in what is related to the health sector, the automotive industry and ecological transformation, and has thanked the economic aid packages valued at 7,000 million dollars that it has received from the Asian country since the start of the invasion, reports Ukrinform.
“I have suggested that Japan focus on supporting our medical institutions and restoring some sectors of the economy, such as the auto industry, ecological transformation,” as well as assisting in demining “to clear the Ukrainian land of hundreds of thousands of unexploded Russian shells”.
