March 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, declared on Monday that he felt a certain “envy” for the “colossal leap” that China has taken in its economic development. “It is much more effective than in many other countries (…). Market mechanisms are combined with a fairly safe political course,” he stressed.

Putin’s statements took place this Monday in Moscow in an informal meeting that he has held with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, on an official visit over the next three days. “In recent years, China has taken a colossal leap in its development,” he acknowledged.

Putin has indicated that this growth on the part of China is a matter of interest “worldwide” and has conveyed to President Xi that he is sure that the Asian country will achieve “with complete certainty” the objectives that have been set.

Upon his arrival in Moscow, the Chinese president stressed that during the last decade, coinciding with the mandate of both, both countries have consolidated and strengthened a bilateral relationship based on “non-confrontation”, being an example of a new model of “respect mutual” and “peaceful coexistence”.

The visit of Xi, who has chosen Russia for his first trip abroad after beginning his third term, has raised some expectation that he could speak with Putin regarding Ukraine, in a context in which the Chinese president is being claimed a stronger stance condemning the invasion.
