Trump says he will be detained Tuesday, calls on supporters to protest

Donald Trump assured on social networks Saturday that he will be arrested on Tuesday, while a New York prosecutor studies the possibility of filing charges in a case in which he investigates whether he ordered the payment of money – in exchange for silence – to women who previously alleged having had sexual encounters with the former president of the United States.

Trump said in a partially all-caps message on his Social Truth network that “illegal leaks” from the Manhattan district attorney’s office indicate that “THE LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE AND FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WILL BE ARRESTED TUESDAY NEXT WEEK.” .

Trump urged his supporters to protest.

Law enforcement authorities in New York have been making security preparations in anticipation of Trump being formally indicted.

No timeline for the grand jury’s secret work on the case, including any potential vote on whether or not to indict the former president, has been publicly announced.
