March 18 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The militias of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) have launched this Saturday a rocket from the Gaza Strip against Israeli territory. The projectile has landed in an uninhabited area of Nahal Oz and has not caused any personal damage.
The launch takes place on the eve of the Sharm el Sheikh security summit, which will bring together Palestinian and Israeli representatives this Sunday with the aim of reducing tension before Ramadan — which begins on Wednesday — and given the lack of expectations for medium term.
The attack would be a response to the death of four Palestinians last Thursday during an Israeli covert operation in the West Bank city of Jenin.
This incident occurs after a week and a half of no rocket fire from the Gaza Strip. Last Wednesday a bulldozer detonated an explosive device near the Gaza border fence by driving over it.
The Israeli army responded with artillery fire on a Hamas military position and a military spokesman confirmed that there were no casualties among the soldiers. Two Palestinians were slightly injured.
