March 18 (EUROPA PRESS) –
This Saturday there were serious disturbances between the Police and the demonstrators who had gathered in the town of Kfar Uriah, where the Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, spent the sabbath, in a new protest against insecurity and against the judicial reform that he promotes together with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The protests focus on the controversial judicial reform being processed by the Government of Ben Gvir and Netanyahu and on the murder on Friday of a woman in Haifa at the hands of her husband despite having denounced the Police. “Where were you when Darya was assassinated?” Protesters chanted outside the synagogue where Ben Gvir was, reports The Times of Israel.
The Police have reported the arrest of an individual who threw stones at the demonstrators and two of the protesters for a crime of public disorder and refusal to obey the orders of an agent.
The protesters have moved to Kfar Uriah, near Beit Shemesh, after learning that Ben Gvir would be there over the weekend, which has aroused the anger of the residents of the town, who have chanted slogans such as “the smelly leftists must die”, according to the newspaper ‘Haaretz’.
The newspaper ‘Yedioth Aharonoth’ has reported that the Police have used smoke grenades, while residents have thrown firecrackers and stones at the demonstrators. It is even reported that they were sprayed with a fire extinguisher. According to the Walla portal, other residents took to the streets in defense of the protesters.
