Colombians create ATM Cube to boost trade

Colombians create ATM Cube to boost trade

In each neighborhood of Colombia there are at least 3 commercial premises, among which only 2 of them have tools to offer payment alternatives, thus losing the opportunity to sell and attract the loyalty of new customers. In addition, it is nothing less, to point out that according to the National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane) during 2021 there were a total of 5.8 million micro-businesses in the country.

Seeking to support and energize the country’s micro-entrepreneurs, Carlos Neira and Gerardo Aristizábal, two Colombian entrepreneurs who founded the fintech Cajero.co, now decided to revolutionize the market and the way to pay in the digital age, creating an innovative product known as Cube Cashierwhich seeks to offer greater collection alternatives than those of a conventional dataphone and also promises to be more friendly to the environment.

“The explosion of new forms of payment such as mobile wallets generated for us the need to create something better than a dataphone. With Cubo Cajero, sales are credited to the Cashier account instantly and with lower commissions. In addition to the above, continuing to import plastic from China is not something we want to continue doing.” assured Gerardo Aristizábal, general manager of ATM.

And the problem is that dataphones are a limited asset, with high costs for the financial institution – which is often attributed to the client -, inefficient in mobility business models and also highly polluting.

Perhaps for this reason, according to the survey carried out by the Colombian Financial Superintendency, Colombians carried out 52.8% of monetary and non-monetary operations through mobile phones; which positions the mobile device as a powerful means of payment in the digital age.

The way this cube works is through QR code technology, which, when read by the customer’s cell phone camera, will allow them to freely choose the way they want to pay for their purchase.

“The dataphones are limited to the acceptance of cards where there are many intermediaries in the acceptance of payments. With Cubo Cajero, we can accept cards, but also extend the means of payment for businesses in an instant, more complete and powerful way for businesses”, Aristizabal added.

In addition, since it is a non-electronic device, the seller will no longer have to worry about the WiFi signal or its battery, which will allow the customer to make the payment at any time, even without their intervention.

This 100% Colombian initiative and created to be the evolution of data phones, is the opportunity for businesses such as restaurants, supermarkets or neighborhood stores, medical offices, veterinarians, among others, to increase their sales and to participate competitively and differentially in an increasingly digital market.

In this way, the company that brought thousands of mobile dataphones to businesses throughout the country, now seeks that with this new Colombian product they can put an end to the era of dataphones with a sustainable solution that will promote new Colombian entrepreneurs.
