Snapchat incorporates parental controls to limit sensitive content seen by minors

March 15 (Portaltic/EP) –

Snap has expanded the tools it offers parents in the ‘Family Center’ with new restrictions for the content that minors can see on the social network Snapchat, and has announced that it is working on new features for the My AI chatbot.

‘Family Center’, available since last year, is a space that brings together the parental control tools of Snapchat that allow parents, guardians and responsible persons to know who minors are chatting with without invading their privacy.

This Wednesday has incorporated a novelty, called ‘Content Controls’with which adults can limit the type of content that minors can see on the social network, as reported by the company in a press release.

Specifically, it will allow filtering Stories or videos in Spotlight of media or creators who may have been identified as sensitive or suggestive. To enable the tool, it is necessary that these people have configured the ‘Family Center’ with their teenager.

Snap is also developing ‘Family Center’ tools for My AI, the experimental ‘chatbot’ powered by artificial intelligence recently added to the app.

On the other hand, the company has shared their ‘Content Guidelines’a set of guidelines that outline the type of content that is allowed, what is eligible to be shared with large audiences, and what is considered sensitive and can be restricted.
