Presenting the commitments of the Regional Agenda for Water Action, ECLAC participated in the Regional Forum “Accelerating the change towards SDG 6”, organized by the GWP

This year’s theme for the celebration of World Water Day is “Accelerate Change”, and it has to do with actions that contribute to accelerating the achievement of SDG 6. This, recognizing that to achieve it, collaborative work and in alliance, trying to also identify the contributions that can be made from each sector and actor.

With this as a basis, the Regional Forum “Accelerate the change towards SDG 6” was held on March 2, within the framework of the General Assembly of Members of GWP Central America 2023. Governments, NGOs and academia participated in the event. , among other sectors, with presence in Central American countries. With all of them, a roadmap was planned, aligned with the objectives of the United Nations Water Conference in New York (March 22-24, 2023), calling for the different sectors to get involved.

On this occasion, ECLAC took the opportunity to present the different actions that are being carried out to accelerate compliance with SDG 6. In this way, Elisa Blanco, as a consultant to the Natural Resources Division, spoke about the Regional Group of Experts on Resources Water, from the different consultations on water priorities carried out in the region, as well as the main results of the Regional Agenda for Action for Water, which emerged from the Regional Water Dialogues in February.
