March 13 (Portaltic/EP) –
Automatic has purchased the ‘plugin’ ActivityPub for WordPress with which users can share their publications on decentralized platforms such as Mastodon or Friendica.
Users with pages created on WordPress.org and WordPress.com will be able to reach a new audience on calls federated Platforms, that have become popular as a result of the purchase of Twitter by magnate Elon Musk, and among which is Mastodon.
This ‘plugin’ is based on the decentralized and open protocol ActivityPub, which is already supported on Tumblr, another Automattic platform. In the case of WordPress, users will be able to see the posts on the social networks of their choice, as well as share them and leave comments and reactions.
At the moment, the ‘plugin’ is in a beta phase, and can be used in Mastodon, Pleroma, Friendica, HubZilla, Pixelfed, SocialHome and Misskey, as they explain from Automattic in the dedicated page to this element.
