Kamala Harris begins a tour of Africa from the end of March

March 13 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, will begin a tour that will take her to several African countries starting at the end of this month of March, in what will be the highest-ranking official visit of the Joe Biden Administration to the continent, after the raids by Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

His press secretary, Kirsten Allen, has detailed that he will travel to Ghana, Tanzania and Zambia in order to strengthen US ties in Africa and promote common interests in security and economic prosperity, at a time when it is increasingly the greater the presence of China and Russia on the continent.

Harris will meet with the presidents of the three countries to discuss “regional and global priorities” as well as “democracy, sustainable economic growth, food security” and the effects of Russia’s war in Ukraine.

The tour, which will last a week, is the prelude to the visit that President Biden plans to make to the continent later this year. This week, Blinken will travel to Niger and Ethiopia after the truce of the Tigray war.
