The Israeli Armed Forces have killed a 16-year-old Palestinian in the town of Qalqilia, in the northern West Bank, the Palestinian authorities have reported. Israel maintains that the minor had thrown a Molotov cocktail at the soldiers.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health has reported the death of the young man, identified as Amir Mamun Odé, who was shot in the chest on Friday, according to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA.
Odé was injured in the northern part of Qalqilia and was rushed to a hospital, where he eventually passed away a few hours later.
The Israeli Army has reported that Odé approached a military security barrier and launched several cocktails “at close range”, reports ‘The Times of Israel’. The military “felt threatened” and opened fire. No military was injured.
The Ministry of Health of the Palestinian Authority has counted 80 Palestinians killed in actions by the Israeli military and settlers since the beginning of this year. Among them there are 15 minors.
On the other hand, at least 15 Palestinians have been arrested in the last few hours in the West Bank, including a minor, as denounced by the Palestinian Prisoners Society (SPP). The girl was beaten during detention, in East Jerusalem.
Two other people were arrested in Dura, in the southern West Bank, after an incident with settlers who attacked those now detained, according to the SPP.
Four other Palestinians were arrested on Saturday in the village of Battir, near Bethlehem, accused of planting a bomb on a bus from the Jewish settlement of Beitar Illit.
Five more Palestinians were detained in Qalqilia, in the northern West Bank. They are between the ages of 18 and 33. Two more Palestinians were arrested in Fasayel, in the Jordan River Valley.
