The rapper and businessman Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson shared a few weeks ago a teaser of GTA Vice Citywhich was interpreted as the return of the past franchise in a new game for the current generation of consoles, PS5 and Xbox Series X. However, the publication on social networks was not accompanied by content about this new collaboration, but only a short “I’ll explain later…” message.
After a long wait, the medium Deadline confirmed that the rapper seeks to expand his television series emporium with a series based on the popular video game GTA Vice City. They clarify, of course, that the name of the production has not yet been defined.
Paramount+ has signed on Chad Stahelski (John Wick) to executive produce and direct, and is reportedly the brainchild of Darnell Metayer (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts) and Josh Peters (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts).
Official synopsis of the GTA Vice City series
“Three friends and former soldiers returning to their hometown of Miami in the mid-’80s after being dishonorably discharged from the military for their involvement in the Iran Contra scandal.
Disgraced, displaced and forgotten by the country they served and without good job prospects, the three friends team up with a mysterious Colombian immigrant, pooling their financial needs and criminal ambitions to form a heist team. Motivated by the ‘American green’, they travel a violent and dangerous path in search of the American dream”.
Rumors indicate that the story of the video game will not be adapted, but elements of it will be taken and new protagonists will be introduced. It will be a police and crime series, in the same style as the Rockstar Games games.
