Epic Games has published the review of the year 2022 of the Epic Games Store, a report in which the company recalls and allows you to take a look at some of the figures, including the number of users and the spending they have made in the store. It has also emerged that last year players claimed almost 700 million free games, something that can continue to be done in 2023 as the store will continue to offer titles at no cost every week.

When 2022 ended, the Epic Games Store had exceeded 230 million PC users, which is 36 million more than in 2021. If we add Epic Games multiplatform accounts to that figure, we go to 723 million. Regarding active users, the store reached a maximum of 34.3 million in 2022 and monthly active users reached 68 million, above the 62 million of the previous year. In terms of content, the store added 626 new PC games for a total of 1,548 titles. This number should rise considerably this year thanks to self-publishing.

For those interested in spending, in 2022 players on the Epic Games Store paid $355 million in third-party content, an 18% increase from the previous year. If we include games owned by Epic Games (Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys), gamers spent $820 million in 2022, 2% less than in 2021.

On the other hand, we have the free games program from the Epic Games Store, which in 2022 offered 99 titles for a value of $2,240, according to the store. “Of those, 70 of the games offered in our free games program surpassed their record for concurrent users on PC, with an average increase of 25 times their all-time high,” says Epic Games. Last year, players claimed a total of nearly 700 million free games. The smaller titles are claimed between 6 and 7 million times in a week, while the big ones range between 20 and 25 million.

Finally, Epic Games has listed the best titles of 2022 in three categories according to player spending and playing time.
