The Afghan authorities have reported this Thursday that the governor of the Balkh province, Daud Muzmal, has died from an explosion registered during a meeting in his provincial office.
Members of the Balkh security forces, which is located in northern Afghanistan, have indicated that the governor has died due to the seriousness of his injuries after the explosion of an explosive device.
The spokesman for the Balkh Security Command, Mohamad Asif Waziri, explained in statements to the Tolo News television channel that the explosion took place during a meeting in which administrative issues were discussed.
Previously, local authorities had confirmed the explosion in the vicinity of the provincial government headquarters while security forces were in charge of cordoning off the area.
