At least two members of the Mauritanian National Guard in the framework of a riot in a prison located in the capital, Nouakchott, in which four prisoners convicted of terrorism managed to escape, as confirmed on Monday by the Mauritanian Ministry of the Interior.
“At around 9:00 p.m. (local time) on March 5, four terrorists managed to escape from the Nouakchott central prison after attacking the guards, which led to an exchange of fire in which two members of the National Guard fell martyrs and two others were injured,” he said.
Likewise, it has affected that the National Guard has “reinforced” the deployment of security in the prison and has launched an operation to locate and arrest the fugitives, according to the Mauritanian state news agency, AMI. Finally, he has asked the population to give all the information available to stop the escapees.
