The Palestinian Teachers Union has called an indefinite strike for educational centers in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, to demand compliance with the agreements reached with the Palestinian Authority.
“It is a matter of national and union responsibility. We have made this decision knowing the extent of the damage it will have, but we are forced to do so so that the agreements are applied to save our students and our educational system,” the union stressed. , according to the Palestinian newspaper ‘Al Quds’.
The call also affects the directorates of Education and the Ministry of Education itself. “The Teachers Union has met with all parties to implement previous agreements, we have communicated with everyone and we have assumed our share of the burden of the national struggle. We are proud of this,” the union explained in a statement.
However, they reproach the Palestinian Authority for not having applied the clauses of the Civil Service Law to preserve the purchasing power of teachers.
