Local authorities in the north of the country impose a curfew for security reasons
March 6 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Burkina Faso Army announced this Sunday the “neutralization” of dozens of suspected terrorists, including leaders, in two simultaneous attacks.
The soldiers opened fire against a group of terrorists in the east of the country – in Partiaga, in the province of Tapoa – and in the north center, where the impact has been greatest, according to the ABI news agency.
On the other hand, the local authorities of the province of Sanmatenga and Bam, in the north of the country, have imposed a curfew that will be in force for two weeks.
Burkina Faso, like neighboring Mali, has seen a sharp increase in jihadist attacks in recent years, the work of both al Qaeda and Islamic State affiliates in the region. Abuses by the security forces against the population have helped these groups in their recruitment efforts.
