Microsoft works in a new volume mixer for the Windows 11 operating system, which he hopes will make it easier for users to manage audio from individual apps.
The section of ‘Quick settings’ on the right side of the taskbar includes a button to change the volume of the audio file being played, or to mute the computer.
The tech company is working on a new volume mixer, which it has already built into Windows 11 build 25309 preview, available on the Insider channel.
This improved mixer includes new options that allow, on the one hand, to change from an audio device -such as speakers or headphones- to another “on the fly”, and select whether to activate the spatial audio with Windows Sonic or Dolby Atmos.
On the other, it now includes managing the volume bar of individual applications, not just the speaker or headset that has been selected. And all this is accompanied by a new recycling shortcut to access these quick settings: WIN + CTRL + V.
“With this change, you can now better personalize your audio experience with more control and fewer clicks to better manage your favorite applications,” explains the company in the windows blog.
